Termen/Ried-Brig

Holidays on the Brigerberg

The villages of Ried-Brig and Termen can be found on a natural terrace five minutes by car above the Alpine town of Brig. This is probably why they are popularly known as the Brigerberg (‘Brig mountain’). The two villages are especially popular with tourists in spring and summer. But are they also worth a visit in winter? Find out here.

The villages, which were still primarily agricultural villages in the 1950s, have changed considerably in recent years. The view over the Rhone Valley, the varied, sunny walks, various playgrounds, and well-developed schools and day nurseries make them popular residential communities today. Both villages are well served by the PostBus from Brig train station.

Adventure trails & walks

Thanks to its sunny location, the Brigerberg is a popular area to explore on foot. Walks on the plateau between Ried-Brig and Termen are perfect for soaking up some sun – even in winter. Parents will appreciate some time to relax on the restaurant terraces and the kids will enjoy the well-maintained playgrounds. Some of the trails are also pram-friendly. On the Achera Biela discovery trail and the mountain farming adventure trail, the whole family can learn plenty of interesting facts while discovering animals and plants in the fresh air.

The Brigerberg meadows are an unforgettable sight in spring, when the poppies are in bloom.

Accommodation is available at small hotels and holiday rentals in Ried-Brig and Termen.

Winter sports

If you decide on a winter holiday in Termen or Ried-Brig, the entire Valais winter offering is available to you. Organise your own ski safari in the surrounding areas of Rosswald, Rothwald, Belalp or Aletsch Arena. You can even do a day trip to Zermatt or Saas-Fee. When winter hiking or snowshoeing on the Simplon Pass or in the Rothwald ski resort, you get to hike through varying (winter) landscapes. We recommend going for a relaxing evening dip at the Brigerbad Thermal Spa, which is only 15 minutes by car from the Brigerberg.
